Scott McGill

Partner, Sydney

Scott identifies and resolves complex taxation issues for high net wealth and business clients, assisting with a pragmatic approach to optimising structures as well acquisition, sale, succession, superannuation and estate matters, working hand in glove with our Wealth Management Division.

Scott also has a strong focus on property groups including investment, development and construction – from first time property owners to established players, as well as more complex products such as build-to-rent, retirement villages, aged care and NDIS. His broad understanding of taxation matters related to the industry provides businesses with optimal taxation outcomes to achieve their business objectives.

With a deep understanding of the retirement living sector, Scott helps clients navigate the differential business models, structure and commercial drivers across the complex minefield of income tax, capital gains tax (CGT), goods and services tax (GST), Duty and both State and Commonwealth regulation. He has written and presented a number of technical papers on the more complex taxation and commercial issues related to the sector.

His breadth of industry and taxation knowledge allows him to bring both commercial insights and technical expertise to serve his clients. Further, his broad tax awareness ensures businesses remain strategic, contemporary and compliant in their tax strategies.
