Our history
Pitcher Partners was established in Melbourne in November 1991. The firm was the first new financial services practice Australia had seen in more than 20 years. Today, we are the nation’s eighth largest accounting and business advisory firm.
In the early 1990s, Australia was in the middle of a recession. High interest rates, high unemployment and volatile stock and property markets created an unstable business environment.

Despite these challenging times, 14 partners and 142 personnel boldly left one of the ‘Big Four’ accounting firms to venture out on their own. Their vision was to provide clients with a more personalised experience. By building authentic relationships, they knew they could develop a superior understanding of each client’s business and help them succeed.
In Pitcher Partners first year alone, the new firm not only held onto all clients who had shifted with them but also won new clients and achieved billings in excess of $14 million. It was indicative of the growth and success the firm continues to achieve to this day.

Expansion across Australia
Since establishment, Pitcher Partners has grown to be a network of firms across Australia. Each firm shares a commitment to the interests of their people and clients.
Today, the association of independent firms includes Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane and Newcastle. Pitcher Partners is also a member of the global Baker Tilly International network.
Award winning service
Pitcher Partners has a proud reputation and has received a number of awards celebrating its success. Back in 2005, just 14 years after being formed, Pitcher Partners won the inaugural BRW Best Large Accounting Firm category in the BRW Accounting Firm of the Year Awards. As a client choice award, this accolade served as a testament to the firm’s ethos of personalised client care, which continues today.
