Michael launched his career in industry and joined Pitcher Partners Melbourne after working in London for Baker Tilly. He became a Partner in 2013. Michael is the global chair of Corporate Finance for Baker Tilly International.
With extensive expertise in mergers and acquisitions, financial analysis, due diligence, and valuations, Michael is committed to providing strategic guidance that empowers business owners to navigate complex transactions with confidence. Recognising that divestment and acquisition activities are infrequent yet transformative events, he ensures that clients receive clear advice that aligns with their overarching objectives and long-term vision. His approach extends beyond just transactions, incorporating considerations of legacy, stakeholder impact, and sustained business growth.
Michael’s proficiency in negotiation and strategic decision making enables him to find solutions in challenging situations where multiple stakeholders hold competing interests. His ability to foster productive dialogue and drive consensus has earned him the trust and personal relationship of business founders, many of whom continue to seek his counsel well beyond the completion of a deal.
When Michael joined Pitcher Partners Melbourne, the firm did not have a dedicated M&A practice. Through his leadership and strategic direction, the M&A division has grown substantially, establishing Pitcher Partners as a leading provider in the sector. In recognition of his expertise, Michael, alongside fellow Partner James Beaumont, was named one of Australasia’s most active M&A advisors for completed transactions in 2019, a testament to his impact on the industry.
