Jake’s varied career has seen him work in a number of specialist areas, including audit, tax consulting and business advisory. His motivation comes from working with small to medium enterprises – both the business itself and the owners, for whom he seeks to ensure optimal tax outcomes.
With a particular focus on income tax advisory, Jake assists his clients with any problematic or complex tax issues as they arise. His extensive experience representing clients in negotiations with the Tax Office is invaluable in achieving favourable outcomes. Jake is able to marry complex tax issues with commercial realities, ensuring that any advice provided is commercial and practical.
Continual learning is an important part of Jake’s DNA. He invests in development not only for himself, but he is passionate in ensuring that others around him are learning and growing as well. He is heavily involved in providing tax training for the firm and more broadly, at external events through the Tax Institute and other training organisations. Jake is particularly interested in the developments around small business CGT concessions and has run numerous training sessions on this topic.
Jake believes that truly understanding a client is more important than ever in today’s economic climate. Rather than focus on the immediate issue before him, he forges a strong relationship with clients to achieve a broader, more holistic understanding of their affairs to provide real value.
