About the role
We are seeking a Senior Management Accountant with strong month-end reporting and payroll experience to join our Private Business & Family Advisory division. In this role, you will act as the internal management accountant for a select group of key clients, while also supporting the broader division across month-end, payroll and compliance obligations. This is a unique opportunity to work in a management accounting capacity within a professional services firm, with some exposure to tax and advisory work as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-end month-end processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments, depreciation and inter-group invoices
- Preparing and reconciling business and investment portfolio bank accounts
- Preparing month-end workpapers and reconciliations
- Processing payroll, including PAYG withholding, superannuation, redundancies and payroll tax (multi-state)
- Preparing BAS and IAS returns
- Processing and collating supplier invoices for payment
- Managing client interactions relating to information requests, queries and delivery of month-end accounts
Who we are after
You’re an experienced accountant who enjoys ownership, autonomy and working closely with clients. Ideally, you’ll bring:
- A Business or Commerce degree, majoring in Accounting
- 35 years’ experience in professional services or relevant industry roles
- Strong month-end and payroll processing experience
- A clear understanding of payroll deadlines and compliance obligations
- Experience using accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks and/or NetSuite
- The ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively within a team
- Strong attention to detail, time management and problem-solving skills
- Confident written and verbal communication skills
