Your new career

As a Trainee or Graduate, you will work closely within a team of accountants and gain further exposure as you interact with staff across all divisions. You will be working with Partners, Directors and Managers who are experts in their fields. Being part of one of our highly skilled teams, means you will be continuously challenged.

You will also have the opportunity to broaden your skills with extensive training, development and support through our internal Trainee / Graduate Program and the Chartered Accountant Program, as well as further relevant post graduate studies.

What you bring

You are currently undertaking or have recently completed a Business and/or Commerce Degree and are a permanent resident. You are motivated and keen to work with our wide range of clients.

Senior Auditor

Your new career

You will bring your commercial focus to our clients and team.  Reporting to the  Senior Audit Manager, you will be responsible for planning audit engagements, supervising junior audit staff during audit fieldwork and ensuring outcomes comply with internal quality compliance and Australian Auditing Standards.

The successful applicant will:

  • Demonstrate effective project management skills for an allocated pipeline of audit engagements
  • Liaise directly with clients finance staff to deliver the audit engagement that is aligned with the client needs and the firm's audit methodology
  • Supervise and coach junior audit staff during audit fieldwork
  • Have strong communication skills and provide regular updates to their audit manager on the status of their audit engagements as well as significant audit issues identified
  • Perform some review of audit work papers prepared by junior audit staff
  • Deliver high quality audit services, this includes:
    • preparation of job budgets and staff work allocations for audit engagements
    • conducting and documenting audit planning and completion procedures
    • drafting the report to the audit committee / board of directors
    • review / compilation of statutory financial statements prepared under IFRS and relevant regulations
    • preparing the audit opinion over the financial statements under relevant regulations
  • Complete  other assurance engagements as they arise e.g. Review Engagements
  • Contribute toward a positive and supportive audit team culture, and assist audit staff to manage priorities and navigate through audit peak periods

What you will bring

As an ideal candidate, you will have a Commerce or Business degree majoring in Accounting, either CA qualified or finishing your final subject(s) to be CA qualified. With at least 3 years' experience as an External Auditor with a mid-tier or top-tier audit firm, you will have:

  • Demonstrated commercial and client focus
  • Exceptional client skills, including building authentic relationships and proactively managing client expectations throughout the assurance engagement
  • Established assurance/audit skills and an understanding of audit techniques and methods
  • An understanding of IFRS or Australian Accounting Standards (AASB), Australian Auditing Standards (ASA) and relevant legislation applicable to assurance engagements
  • Refined ability to manage multiple deadlines with flexibility where client and team needs shift
  • Desire to work in a team based environment, leading others and appropriately managing up
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills, specifically in relation to Microsoft Office Packages
  • Passion to develop, coach and lead others

Intermediate Accountant - Private Business and Family Advisory (PBFA)

Your new career

With direct exposure to a number of Partners, our Accountants work within dynamic teams and have access to mentoring and a range of clients. Reporting to two managers, you will be a collaborative team player and deliver a range of taxation, financial and business advisory services for our clients. Your clients cross a number of industries such as property, medical, construction, legal and professional services. Critical deliverables for the role include:

  • complete assigned Private Business and Family Advisory accounting work beyond a 'process compliance' standard, to meet client needs and contribute to effective practice management
  • review client files and preparing first draft financial and tax documents for management review
  • work on a variety of entities across different industry sectors
  • opportunities to be client facing and managing scope of work (ability to transition, previous client contact)
  • engage and mentor graduates and more junior accountants within the team
  • the ability to delegate with ownership and responsibility

What you will bring

As the ideal candidate, you will have a Commerce or Business degree majoring in Accounting or Commerce completing or completed your CA/CPA qualification. With relevant experience as a Business Services Intermediate Accountant, you will be able to demonstrate:

  • ability to understand client needs and exhibit a high level client service
  • solid tax technical knowledge and accounting skills
  • outstanding attention to detail, time and cost management
  • ability to work well under pressure
  • high level analytical and problem solving ability
  • adaptable to engage a wide range of growing clients
  • ability to integrate with a team and collaborate effectively
  • ability to use, navigate and troubleshoot common client accounting software packages (ie MYOB, Xero)
