Innis is a corporate and personal insolvency practitioner who helps people and businesses face challenging circumstances in a commercial yet empathetic manner. He takes great professional satisfaction in solving problems for those who need honest, realistic and commercial solutions on the one hand, and investigating and pursuing fraud and other financial misconduct on behalf of aggrieved parties on the other.
When assisting creditors and parties affected by financial misconduct, Innis has led and often personally conducted numerous public examinations in complex national and international insolvencies. With a particular focus on the investigation of fraud and asset planning structures, Innis has managed a number of Australia’s largest personal insolvency matters. He has concurrently managed numerous corporate liquidations, corporate and property receiverships and Part X Personal Insolvency Agreements.
When helping businesses and individuals suffering financial stress, Innis takes a compassionate approach that recognises the human element of insolvency problems.
Prior to joining Pitcher Partners, Innis worked for over a decade as a lawyer in private practice specialising in personal and corporate insolvency, commercial law and commercial litigation. He brings a unique approach to the practice of personal and corporate insolvency, and can draw from a strong network of lawyers and other stakeholders to quickly identify and solve problems.
Innis is registered liquidator, a registered bankruptcy trustee and professional member of the Australian Reconstruction Insolvency & Turnaround Association (ARITA). He is a passionate advocate for insolvency law reform, particularly in personal insolvency and phoenix offending. He presents regularly around Victoria and interstate on all his areas of practice and expertise.
Innis became a partner of the Melbourne firm in 2018.
