Assistant Manager, Business Recovery & Insolvency

Pitcher Partners has one of the largest insolvency teams in Melbourne, led by six experienced and skilled insolvency practitioners.  We are an ethical and high-quality practice providing the full range of corporate and personal insolvency services, underpinned by the commitment of the highest level of financial investigation and recovery skills to the small and medium-sized enterprise market.

As an Assistant Manager within the Business Recovery and Insolvency team, you will be guaranteed an exciting career that incorporates both your accounting and legal mind.  No two days are the same as you will work across a range of projects that may involve different industries and very different problems.

About the role

You will join a supportive and energetic team environment, focusing on formal insolvency engagements including liquidations, bankruptcies and voluntary administrations.  These engagements may involve the trading and sale of a business, carrying out an investigation, detecting fraudulent conduct, identifying misconduct and criminal behaviour, and recovering assets wherever they are located. 

Key responsibilities

  • Assist with management of formal insolvency engagements, including voluntary administrations, court liquidations, creditors voluntary liquidations, and bankruptcy administrations.
  • Performance of investigations and recovery of assets
  • Complex financial analysis
  • Working with clients on informal engagements, including unfair preference defence, expert witness reports/litigation support, insolvency advice and negotiation with insolvency firms
  • Training and mentoring junior staff members 
  • Undertaking some business development activities

Who we’re after

Industry experience

You will have industry experience within the insolvency/restructuring space, or from a similar role within a professional services firm. Ideally, you have previously trained and/or mentored other junior staff.

Relevant tertiary qualifications

You are degree qualified and have (or are completing) your CA/CPA qualification.

Team player

You communicate with ease and can quickly build rapport and collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to develop trusted working relationships in a team environment.
