Ben excels in providing management consulting services, cash flow analysis, tax planning, business structuring and general corporate advice to small-to-medium businesses across various industries.
He has been elemental to the firm’s private business and family advisory (PBFA) leadership team for many years. He also leads the superannuation division, providing compliance and audit services to self-managed superannuation funds.
Ben takes the reins from Tom Verco, who has been Pitcher Partners Adelaide’s Managing Principal for the past 17 years. Tom led significant changes during his time, including the establishment of the firm’s South Australian Foundation, which raises money for charities hand-picked by the firm’s people on a yearly basis.
Tom is staying on as a Principal at Pitcher Partners Adelaide in the Private Business and Family Advisory (PBFA) division. He says, “I am very much looking forward to continuing to provide exceptional personal service to our long-standing loyal clients.”
One of the firm’s most notable achievements under Tom’s leadership was joining the Pitcher Partners network in 2006, having previously operated as Fennel Allen and Co for 25 years.
“Tom embraced this move, expanding Pitcher Partners Adelaide to be the full-service firm it is today, providing audit, business recovery and insolvency, and specialist tax consulting services to businesses and individuals in South Australia,” says Ben.
“We are all thankful for Tom’s leadership, experience, and desire to embrace new opportunities as we continue to evolve as a firm.”
Tom also oversaw the firm’s relocation in 2015 from their Greenhill Road location to Hutt Street in the central business district.
“When I first joined the firm, and Tom became Managing Principal, there were only four Principals, and around 30 people. Now, we have nine Principals, we have almost trebled our team,” said Ben.
Ben is proud to have the support of his fellow Principals in this next chapter for the firm. His focus for 2020 and beyond is on continued growth, innovation and procuring the best talent available.
The recent appointment of Jarrod Morris as Pitcher Partners Adelaide’s Innovation Lead, and the establishment of two new service lines in strategic advisory and outsourced finance, is a key indication of this vision.
“Pitcher Partners Adelaide will continue to expand to ensure our clients have access to a full suite of services as they grow their financial success,” said Ben.
“We are also focused on getting the next generation into the firm and investing in young South Australians.”
The firm conducts annual undergraduate, graduate and vacationer programs to find the next generation of top talent, in partnership with CAANZ career fairs and networks at local universities.
The Adelaide firm is taking on 10 vacationers in 2020, offering students and graduates a collaborative and personalised experience as they start their careers in finance.
