Melissa Alexander

Partner, Sydney

Melissa has over 30 years’ experience providing audit and assurance services to a broad range of clients including Not-for-Profit (NFP) organisations, ASX listed companies and large private companies. She became a Partner of the Sydney firm in 2012, having acted in a Partner capacity for 8 years at another mid tier firm prior to joining Pitcher Partners.

Melissa’s audit and assurance experience includes external audits, AFSL audits, internal audits, compliance plan audits, and providing accounting standards and financial reporting advice. Her breadth of expertise enables her to provide independent recommendations and strategic counsel, ensuring businesses and organisations are compliant with their fiduciary and statutory obligations.

Melissa works closely with the NFP sector and understands the industry’s challenges, risks and opportunities. With over two thirds of her client portfolio in the NFP sector, Melissa’s expertise allows her to identify technical issues, resolving them through commercial solutions.

Her NFP clients include member organisations/industry associations and large charities, including education sector entities.

With a focus on client service and relationships, Melissa stays in regular contact with her clients to understand their broader business issues. Through candid discussions and listening to her clients, she is able to solve underlying business problems.

As the Sydney representative on the Pitcher Partners National Audit Review Panel, and as a member of the Sydney firm Executive Board and Chair of the Sydney Risk Committee, Melissa plays an instrumental role in monitoring and improving audit quality across the Australian network and overseeing the strategic direction of the Sydney firm.

Melissa is the current audit engagement partner for the following NFP clients: YHA, The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA), Free TV Australia, Private Healthcare Australia, Commercial Radio & Audio (CRA), Phonographic Performance Company of Australia (PPCA), Surf Life Saving NSW, Energy and Water Ombudsman of New South Wales, Children’s Cancer Institute of Australia, Unisson Disability, Interrelate, Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese Limited and others.
