Senior Accountant – Private Business & Family Advisory

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Accountant with a strong focus on month end reporting to join our Private Business Family Advisory division. The successful candidate will take ownership of a few key clients as their internal management accountant as well as servicing the wider divisions tax advisory clients. This unique roll allows you to work as a management accountant within a leading accounting firm and still have exposure to tax advisory work to develop your skill set.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare payroll including deductions, redundancies and declaration of PAYG Withholding for large withholders.
  • Prepare month end processes including depreciation, prepayments, accruals, intergroup invoices, and workpapers to reconcile all accounts.
  • Prepare business activity statements and payroll tax returns.
  • Manage clients directly where possible in respect of the collection of information, queries and delivery of month end accounts.

Relevant skills

As the ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Business/Commerce degree majoring in Accounting
  • Completed or be completing your CA/CPA qualification
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in professional services
  • Solid month end accounting skills
  • Ability to integrate with a team and collaborate effectively
  • Ability to work autonomously and proactively
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Demonstrated ability to understand client needs and tailoring service
  • Ability to use, navigate and troubleshoot common client accounting software packages (ie Quickbooks, NetSuite, Xero)
  • High level of analytical and problem solving ability
  • Outstanding attention to detail and time management
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

A candidate without the above qualifications may still be considered where they have significant industry experience and possess the requisite skill set.
