Data Scientist/Business Analyst

About the role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Scientist / Business Analyst to support our firm’s data-driven decision-making processes and ERP system management. The ideal candidate will have advanced skills in Power BI and Excel, experience with Python and/or SQL, and a strong background in business analysis. If you tick some of the boxes, but not all, we’d still encourage you to apply. Other capabilities you have may make you the perfect fit for the role, and we can work on filling the gaps together.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Report Development and Maintenance: Create, maintain, and develop new reports to support business operations and decision-making. Understanding of database views critical. 
  • ERP System Management: Oversee the management of our ERP system, ensuring its optimal performance and functionality.  Experience with MYOB Acumatica highly regarded.
  • Technology Rollout Support: Assist with the rollout of new technologies across the firm, ensuring smooth implementation and user adoption, including project management as needed.
  • Data Transformation Strategy: Develop and implement our data transformation strategy to enhance data quality, accessibility, and usability.
  • Business Analysis: Conduct thorough business analysis to identify opportunities for improvement and provide actionable insights.
  • Data Integration: Integrate data from various sources to create comprehensive and accurate reports.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with different divisions to understand their data needs and provide tailored solutions.

Who we’re after

Here are the key qualifications, skills and personal attributes we’re looking for.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Business Analysis: Strong analytical skills with experience in business analysis and process improvement.
  • Report Writing: similar to Crystal Reports
  • ERP Support: Experience in supporting and managing ERP systems.
  • Power BI and Excel: Advanced skills in Power BI and advanced Excel for data visualisation and analysis.   The position needs to Build Solutions in Power BI and have a very good understanding, or a strong desire to learn, Power Platform suite.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in Python and/or SQL for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex data in a clear and concise manner.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and innovative approach.
  • Business Process Mapping: Ability to work with various areas across the business to map processes and help develop solutions utilising new technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the accounting or financial services industry highly regarded.
  • Knowledge of additional data visualisation tools.
  • Certification in data science, business analysis, or related fields.
