General overview of the position and key responsibilities

An opportunity is available for a full-time Audit Intermediate to join our Perth Audit and Assurance team.  This role will primarily provide accurate and timely audit services to our clients and assistance to the Audit and Assurance team.

  • Responsible for contributing towards high level work for review from a diverse client base in the middle market, including listed entities and large proprietary companies.
  • Read, understand and follow audit planning memo and audit program.
  • Undertake field work for financial and compliance non-complex audits including interim and final testing.
  • Prepare work papers in accordance with Audit Methodology.
  • Fully utilise Audit software program Caseware and advise junior staff on usage.
  • Prepare statutory financial statements for small, non-complex engagements (where required).
  • Apply computer simulations and computer assisted techniques in performing audit engagements.
  • Liaise with Senior Accountants and Managers to ensure jobs are reviewed and completed on time. 
  • Assistance with non-audit engagements, including due diligence, other advisory services (including consulting) and litigation support.
  • Supervision of more junior personnel.

Qualifications and key attributes

  • First time pass results for CA modules completed to date, with only the Capstone module to go.
  • Minimum 2+ years of audit experience ideally from a Big 4 or mid-tier firm.
  • Working knowledge of accounting standards, as well as an understanding of the audit process and audit risk assessment.
  • Ability to prepare work paper files in accordance with firm and divisional standards and train more junior staff in this regard.
  • Proven ability to delegate lower level work to junior staff where it is cost effective.

An opportunity is available for a full-time Senior Accountant to join our Perth Audit and Assurance team. This role will primarily provide accurate and timely audit services to our clients and assistance to the Audit and Assurance team.

  • Responsible for contributing towards high level work for review from a diverse client base in the middle market including listed entities and large proprietary companies.
  • Displays appropriate knowledge and understanding of client’s business to assist in developing an appropriate audit approach in compliance with Pitcher Partner’s Global Focus Audit Methodology.
  • Read, understand and follow audit planning memo and audit program.
  • Involvement in the planning phase of audit appropriate to level, developing audit plans as required.
  • Undertake field work for financial and compliance audits including interim and final testing.
  • Prepare work papers in accordance with Audit Methodology, preparation of clear and concise reports.
  • Fully utilise Audit software program Caseware and advise junior staff on usage.
  • Prepare statutory financial statements.
  • Prepare basic tax computations.
  • Apply computer simulations and computer assisted techniques in performing audit engagements.
  • Draft technical memo's for manager and partner review.
  • Provide feedback to staff on a regular basis during and at completion of assignments. 
  • Liaise with Managers to ensure jobs are reviewed and completed on time. 
  • Assistance with non-audit engagements, including due diligence, other advisory services (including consulting) and litigation support.
  • Supervision of junior personnel.

Qualifications and key attributes

  • CA/CPA Qualified | Minimum 3 years of audit experience ideally from a Big 4 or mid-tier firm, with first time pass results.
  • Thorough working knowledge of accounting standards and tax, as well as a detailed understanding of the audit process and audit risk assessment.
  • Ability to prepare work paper files in accordance with firm and divisional standards and train junior staff in this regard.
  • Proven ability to delegate lower level work to junior staff where it is cost effective.

  • Clear briefing of staff on job requirements.
  • Establishes and/or confirms budgets.
  • Assistance with non-audit engagements, including due diligence, other advisory services (including consulting) and litigation support.
  • Drafts invoices and follows up with debtors.
  • Identify areas requiring improvement in the clients’ business processes and possible recommendations and prepare and deliver these to clients.
  • Supervision and mentoring of junior and intermediate personnel.
  • Conduct Internal training sessions.

Qualifications and key attributes

  • CA/CPA Qualified | Minimum 4 years of audit experience ideally from a Big 4 or mid-tier firm.
  • Exemplary technical audit knowledge with exposure to tax and advisory services.
  • Broad commercial expertise and judgment | Analytical | High attention to detail.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills as frequent client interaction, often dealing with more senior members of client staff.
  • Understanding of clients and our business, suggesting ways we can improve the clients or our own business or procedures.
  • Able to write technical letters and reports with assistance.
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills.

Working with the Audit Partners, the Senior Manager will assume the next most senior key executive position in the Audit and Assurance team.  The Senior Manager is responsible for managing the audit engagement by defining the audit strategy, in consultation with the Partners, and executing it in compliance with internal policies and protocols.

  • Managing a portfolio of engagements to ensure they are completed in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for delivering high level work for review from a diverse client base in the middle market including listed entities and large proprietary companies.
  • Effectively manage the Audit process with appropriate consideration of audit risk issues and accounting technical matters.
  • 50% hands on Auditing and 50% Leadership (encompassing reviewing, delegating and mentoring).
  • Establishes and/or confirms budgets.
  • Assists in the presentation of findings and discuss issues with Audit Committee.
  • The preparation and review of financial statement and analysis and documentation of internal controls and control environments.
  • Responsible for the development of business and leveraging current relationships to generate more work.
  • Both preparation and review of General and Special Purpose Financial Statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards.
  • Assistance with non-audit engagements, including due diligence, other advisory services (including consulting) and litigation support.
  • Preparation of independent accountant reports.
  • Experience of preparation of experts reports desirable (but not critical).
  • Drafts invoices and follows up with debtors.
  • Identify areas requiring improvement in the clients’ business processes and possible recommendations and prepare and deliver these to clients.
  • Supervision and mentoring of junior and intermediate personnel, including managers.
  • Conduct Internal training sessions.

Qualifications and key attributes

  • CA/CPA Qualified | Minimum 7 years of audit experience ideally from a Big 4 or mid-tier firm, with at least 2+ years in a managerial capacity.
  • Exemplary technical audit knowledge with exposure to tax & advisory services.
  • Broad commercial expertise and judgment | Analytical | High attention to detail.
  • Experience leading and maintaining high performance teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills | Main contact for most jobs, often dealing with more senior members of client staff.
  • Intimate understanding of clients and our business, suggesting ways we can improve the clients or our own business or procedures.
  • Able to write technical letters and reports.
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
