Why Shares remain a compelling long-term investment

The level of elevated uncertainty on global sharemarkets towards the end of 2018 prompted a significant shift out of equities and into defensive assets (cash and fixed interest). Over the last two months, markets have rebounded despite a mild deterioration in underlying fundamentals. Although the short-term outlook for equities is subdued, there are some compelling reasons why shares remain an attractive proposition for long-term investors, of which we examine in detail here.
