Changes to the way Pitcher Partners Adelaide provides advice on Self-Managed Super Funds (SMSFs)

By Cathi Norman - June 17, 2016

From 1 July 2016, accountants who wish to continue to provide clients with advice on SMSFs will require an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL).

At Pitcher Partners in South Australia, we have lodged an application to obtain a limited AFSL, which allows us to continue to provide advice to you in relation to your SMSF.

The SMSF advice we provide is now regulated by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) which provides us with a framework for how to provide this advice to clients.

From 1 July, the advice we provide to you will be documented in a formal statement of advice, and you will need to formally indicate your acceptance of this advice via an authority to proceed.

We will also be sending out Financial Services Guides to our clients, in order to comply with ASIC’s requirements.

As has been the case in the past, we will not be providing advice in the areas of risk insurance or financial advice in regard to particular investments.

Please do not hesitate to contact our firm if you have any questions in relation to the above and how it may affect the advice we provide you.
