It’s more than just numbers…
it’s developing yourself
Our Internship program is designed for students who have a keen desire to gain practical experience before completing the final year of their University degree. The Internship program begins in March/April each year and concludes in December. Our Interns are given the same opportunities and training and development experiences as our Graduates, including attending the National Graduate Training Program. At the end of the Internship program the top performing students may be offered a position with Pitcher Partners upon completion of their degree.
Intern Profile
Name: Chloe
What division do you work in at PP and what work do you carry out?
I work in the BAA division – Business Advisory and Assurance. My particular group within BAA is a management accounting group. The work we complete varies throughout the year, with a large proportion involving the preparation of our clients' financial statements, – including companies, partnerships and trusts. We also complete our clients’ FBT returns, tax returns, and Business Activity Statements and anything else required throughout the year. During the year I have also completed a few audits, and I have been kept busy with my own bookeeping client. Working within this division at Pitcher Partners gives you the opportunity to travel and work from clients' offices on a regular basis.
What have been the highlights of your Internship year?
I would have to say the National Graduate Training Program was a major highlight. All the Interns and Graduates commencing in 2009 from all the states in Australia meet in Queenland for four days of training and a lot of fun on the side.
I have also loved the social side of work, all the group functions and social events I have attended have been great (especially the firm ball). I’m also going to take away with me this year a lot of new friendships.
Would you recommend that other students apply for a position in Pitcher Partners Internship Program?
Yes, I would, definitely. The Internship Program not only helps you gain a clearer idea of what area of accounting in which you want to continue your career, but it also opens your eyes to many different areas of accounting in which you can specialise.
From completing the internship progam at Pitcher Partners I know that I want to continue my career in a similar sized firm. I believe I fit in well with the culture of a smaller firm and feel the resources they have to offer will provide me with the building blocks for a successful career. The internship program can really give you a clearer idea of where you want to be in the future.
Where to now for Chloe?
Chloe was successful in gaining an offer to return to Pitcher Partners after completing her final year of University. Chloe will to return to the firm as an Accountant 2, one level higher than a graduate in 2011.
Applications for our 2011 Internship program close on Wednesday the 14th of July, 2010. To apply please upload your Resume, Cover letter and Academic transcript via the link on the Current Vacancies when applications open.
